Acorn Winter 05:32
The winter that’s coming will be a hard one, and she don’t wanna sing that Christmas song to him again. If she’s the glue, the roof will fall through; that acorn winter’s just around the bend. She left that burner on too long And I can’t open my eyes in this room, in this house where trouble sings its lies. When the bottom drops out, which way is down and who draws the lines in the street? Through the dark red lining in your silver cloud: a black stain on your heart of gold. It rains like bullets and just as loud; she don’t know, she don’t know, she don’t know. That oak tree fell straight down, pushed around by the storm. Fleet of foot in a red nightgown; tip toe across the floor. Back full of scars, splinters in my heart, sirens sing a song of desire. Trace the backbone sky, the rooster cries: out of dark, out of time. When the bottom drops out, which way is down and who draws the lines in the street? Through the dark red lining in your silver cloud: a black stain on your heart of gold. It rains like bullets and just as loud; she don’t know, she don’t know, she don’t know. The crops have been cut down; the fields lay exposed. Now I can see, now I can see the road. If I’m the glue, the roof will fall through. That acorn winter’s creeping into you. When the bottom drops out, which way is down and who draws the lines in the street? Through the dark red lining in your silver cloud: a black stain on your heart of gold. It rains like bullets and just as loud; she don’t know, she don’t know, she don’t know.

You called my bluff You forced my hand What kind of man What kind of man Took a couple laps 'Round the Promised Land What kind of man What kind of man I took you home And showed you my heart What kind of man What kind of man You held me close When the demons started What kind of man What kind of man I should know by now As long as you've been hangin' 'round But you know how it is with love and the blind I threw you a spark You fanned the flame What kind of man What kind of man In my bedpost You carved your name What kind of man What kind of man I should know by now As long as you've been hangin' 'round But you know how it is with love and the blind I brought you to tears You made me cry What kind of man What kind of man And now I sing this song and wonder why I wonder why What kind of man What kind of man I should know by now As long as you've been hangin' 'round But you know how it is with love and the blind

I was noting the briskness of our walk and my unusual ability to keep the rhythm steady – steady. When your words tore through my head you cracked a smile at my stillness, “you should challenge yourself sometimes,” sometimes Familiarity funds the memory of the muscles and if you learn to bend it will bend - bend If there’s a lesson in time spent with friends, it’s we develop half-truths; fractured memories retold get fleshed out. Somehow we still find the shame in our eagerness to recount these stories, the messages they’re changing. Familiarity funds the memory of the muscles and if you learn to bend it will bend - bend Maybe if I stay ahead of the flame I can develop a new posture; Compensate for the smoke ceiling, we are remarkably adaptable beings… Smoke ceiling Avoid every crack in the sidewalk; I noticed the rate of our stride But I kept the rhythm steady

The Lord is my Shepherd The wolf's at the door My cup runneth over Pour me some more Surely goodness and mercy will follow me home and I shall not want, I shall not want Drink with my enemies Restore all my soul Break up these still waters Cast the first stone Hounds on the righteous path This trail has gone cold Reward for the straight and narrow Hanging on the crossroads As I walk through the valley Of the shadow I know Drink with my enemies Destroy all my soul Break up these still waters Cast the first stone Oh make me lie down In your pasture so blue Lead me astray when I look for you Yeah, me and mine enemies Will drink til there's none And I shall not want, I shall not want Drink with my enemies Restore all my soul Break up these still waters Cast the first stone I shall not want, I shall not want

Living in the moment Is sort of like walking through the dark Just put one foot in front of the other Don’t focus on where you’ll be When you get to fifteen steps from where you are now I’m telling you that if you do you will miss What is immediately in front of you And you’ll feel like a fool when you fall on your face And you don’t get there And yes these suggestions all come From a very large deal of experience I have fallen on my face so many times I probably shouldn't even have one While I was walking through the dark Now it’s equally important To make sure that you’re not looking constantly fifteen steps Over your own shoulder Because living in the past is the pits And how can you move forward? Three steps back two steps up Four steps back back to start It all seems pointless It’s a surefire way to spend your days Standing still among the wreckage And you might not fall down But who cares you’re stuck there And we’re still moving Why don’t you try just one foot in front of the other It seems silly I know but it’s worth it And soon you’re walking through the dark [Just] focus on just what you’re on Try your life on one day at a time And now you’re trudging through the dark, strolling through the dark, skipping through the dark, swaying through the.. Marching through the dark, twirling through the dark, strutting through the dark, dancing through the dark.
